Grant and Siljamäki met at the University of Westminster. Having discovered a common mutual interest for electronic music, they decided to collaborate in writing music together. Following Siljamäki's suggestion, they set up the Anjunabeats label in the summer of 1999 with the release of their first single, "Volume One", under the alias Anjunabeats. Initially, the Anjunabeats record label was founded as a medium to release their own music. Since the label acquired the same name as their production alias, however, they started to release music under different names, most notably as Dirt Devils and Free State.

Andain – Summer Calling (Josh Gabriel Mix)
Andain was a San Francisco-based electronic music duo, originally formed in 2000. They broke through in 2002 after being discovered by DJ Tiësto, reaching clubbers worldwide with their singles "Summer Calling" in 2002 and "Beautiful Things" in 2003. The band members initially included producer Josh Gabriel, singer and songwriter Mavie Marcos, and guitarist David Penner, before the group disbanded in 2006. Andain returned again in 2011 as Josh and Mavie, making their comeback with the single "Promises". The successive year saw the release of the band's first and only full-length album, on September 12, 2012, following a year of touring and performing. Andain was eventually concluded in 2014.
Josh Gabriel
In 1988-89, a 20-year-old exchange student from California Institute of the Arts, was living in The Hague in The Netherlands and studying at the Institute of Sonology. Josh Gabriel had already been working with digital music since his high-school days, achieving mastery of the DX7 and TX816 by the age of 17. With an Apple Macintosh Plus, operating system 3, and the earliest of music applications like Mark of the Unicorn's "Composer" and "Performer", Josh was already at the bleeding edge. In the Netherlands, Gabriel's inventor spirit took shape as he wrote a computer application to control samples on an Akai S900 in real-time with a joystick. And the inception for what later became Mixman had been born. Along with electronics whiz Jan Pannis, (Stockhausen's tech-man) Gabriel and Pannis built an apparatus which converted beams of light coming up off the floor into a Midi Control device and the 20-year-old Gabriel dressed in black, wearing white gloves performed his real-time beat-trigger device in the clubs of Amsterdam.

Scoop - Drop It (Fiocco Remix) [DLA 1999]
Scoop was a Belgian dance group. Originally it was a solo project by producer Daniel Maze. After the first release "Wings of Love" in 1998, Fiocco producer Jan Vervloet joined Scoop. The production was signed in Belgium, the Netherlands, Germany, UK, Norway, Finland and Spain. "Wings of Love" contains a sample of John Foxx's 1980 first solo single "Underpass" and was remixed by Tiësto in 1999. The second single was the theme song for the '99 Love Parade in Berlin. "Drop It" became a No. 1 hit in the club charts in Belgium and the Netherlands, and also topped the mainstream charts in both countries. To promote the release, a video clip was created with images from the '98 Love Parade mixed with the Scoop logo.
Just like the previous release, the third song "Rock the House" (2000) was based on the same concept: a simple catchy tune and a powerful quote. For "Drop It", that was "we're gonna do a song that you've never heard before..", a sample from Otis Redding's "Good to Me". "Rock the House" only featured the title words and charted in the top 10 in Belgium [#9) and the Netherlands (#4). The song was written by Daniel Maze and Jan Vervloet and was remixed by DJ Peter Luts of dance act Lasgo. Again the music video only contained a dancing crowd at an indoor house festival mixed with the Scoop logo. All the videos were directed by Peter Van Eyndt who directed for many Belgian and Dutch artists like Kate Ryan, Milk Inc, Clouseau, Zornik and Krezip.

Satoshi & Makoto - Crepuscule Leger
Satoshi & Makoto - Crepuscule Leger
We write to you with the conclusions of our investigation into the synthesized audio transmissions picked up by the deep space telescope at regular intervals since 1986. The source was traced to two brothers in Kawasaki, Japan, who identified themselves as Satoshi and Makoto. When we raided the building, they were huddled around a synthesizer manufactured by the Casio Corporation, model number CZ-5000.
In their archives we discovered a wealth of colourful and ear-pleasing material created entirely using this music-making device in the early 1990s. We asked them to provide copies so that we could make these compositions available to the public for the first time. They handed us a compact disc that bore the handwritten code “ST006”.

The Advisory Circle is an alias of English electronic musician Cate Brooks (formerly known as Jon Brooks) along with King of Woolworths. Her releases as The Advisory Circle are on the Ghost Box Music label. The Advisory Circle's first release was Mind How You Go, issued as a 3" CD in 2005. An extensive feature in The Wire magazine explored Brooks' fascination with public information films from the 1970s. They describe their sound as "Everything's fine, but there is something not quite right about it." Cate Brooks also releases music, under her own name and a variety of alter-egos, with similar musical influences (such as soundtrack music and library music), emotional atmospheres, and conceptual themes to The Advisory Circle material, through the Clay Pipe Music label, own label Café Kaput, and the band The Pattern Forms (in collaboration with Ed Macfarlane and Edd Gibson of Friendly Fires).

Adam Young has previously attributed the name Owl City to the 1962 short film An Occurrence at Owl Creek Bridge among other various answers. Suffering from insomnia while working loading Coca-Cola trucks, Young began to compose music, recording with a C-1 Behringer Microphone. Among the software that he began with was Reason from Propellerhead. He began uploading songs recorded in his parents' basement to MySpace. "Hello Seattle" was the first track written for Owl City, which also inspired the project. After receiving favorable attention for his music, he began receiving emails from major record labels in the spring of 2008. His manager Steve Bursky later highlighted the significance of Young's engaging online manner in building his following saying: "People feel like they know him, like they've got a direct connection to him because of how he approaches his connection with them online." Through a deal with the digital aggregator CD Baby, he then started making the songs available for sale through iTunes. In 2007, Owl City released an EP titled Of June, followed by the 2008 release of the album Maybe I'm Dreaming. Of June reached No. 15 on the Billboard Dance/Electronic Albums chart, and Maybe I'm Dreaming peaked on the same chart at No. 13. The song, "The Technicolor Phase" from his debut album, was featured in the soundtrack of Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland. In February 2009, Owl City signed with Universal Republic. He played his first show to a sold-out crowd at the Varsity Theater in Minnesota. He continued to perform shows from May to June 2009. In May, Owl City performed at the 2009 Bamboozle festival

Cafe Del Mar - Irish Woman Traditonal Irish
Three separate generations of one family – stationed at the door of their thatched stone cottage in Co. Galway.
Bridget Kane, a resident of Lettergesh in Galway, was just 16 years old when photographer Clifton R. Adams landed on her doorstep in 1927, taking snaps of a country still recovering from the devastation of the War of Independence and Civil War. Within a year, Bridget had moved to the US, making a lonely solo passage across the waves to Boston. She did not return home again for 44 years.
Her story is the Irish story of emigration, sadness, a new life and her own version of the American dream. There was even a trip home much later back to her Camelot, her home place.

A large group of children, both boys and girls, mostly facing the camera. They are standing in front of a cottage whose partially whitewashed gable is visible. Many of the girls are wearing white pinafores, while some of the boys are wearing traditional Aran knitted clothing. Photographer Robert Welch’s use of the word ‘Firbolgs’ reflects antiquarian ideas of the ancestry of islanders. 1893-1895
Taken by Robert John Welch, this image from Trá Chill Mhuirbhigh depicts men carrying a four-man currach from the shore typically used for fishing. Currachs are wooden framed boats covered in tanned leather, which were propelled by oars. They are extremely light and fast. Until the middle of the twentieth century they would have been used mainly for transport and fishing. We can also see four more currachs in the background, including the more typical three-man currach. It is part of the Balfour Album in the University of Galway.
